EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
7pm CNN MEETING ROOM

(PRESENT: See attached sign-in sheet)

  1. Meeting called to order by Chair Craig Stockbridge at 7 pm .
  2. Minutes of April 8, 2009 Executive Board Meeting presented by Secretary Bob Ueland. Moved Jo Schaefer 2nd-Bruce Richmond. Passed UNANIMOUSLY
  3. New member Elisabeth Winnen was introduced. She moved here from The Netherlands 1 ½ years ago with her daughter Diane. She is an architect by profession. She feels Hollywood needs “de-paving” and will head sub-committee looking at land adjacent to Hollywood Theatre. She has prepared a possible site-plan for the property.
  4. OLD BUSINESS
    1. HOLLYWOOD GATEWAY - Where should it be located? Craig passed out visioning worksheet.
    2. PAGODA BUS SHELTER - No report of any activity from John Perkins.Bob Ueland reports there is a pagoda-shaped drive-in latte shop at entrance to US Bank parking on NE 122nd near K-Mart.
    3. NE 39th AVENUE RE-NAMING - City Council approved 5-0 today.
  5. COMMITTEE REPORTS
    1. PUBLICITY – Aaron Jones. Website is being re-designed and added to. Chair Craig asked each Committee Chair to write a paragraph for each Newsletter. Due to rising costs of printing newsletters and having them delivered, Alison determined it would cost $175-$200 to have them mailed. Ian Timm moved we go online with our newsletter and only print 500 for each newsletter to go to HWD EAST, HWD LIBRARY, 42ND ST. STATION, HWD TNHSE, AND HWD THEATRE 2nd-Jo Schaefer PASSED UNANIMOUSLY

      Aaron will publish this information in next newsletter and on website.
    2. TREASURER’S REPORT - Bruce reports $697.00 in bank.
    3. TRANSPORTATION
      1. Marah reports there will be a “walkabout” in NE July 19.
      2. Residents bothered by early morning noise at Providence construction site have been working with Providence reps with generally good results.
      3. New signal at NE 45th/Halsey is installed.
      4. Marah will invite Steve Fletcher to July 23 General Meeting.
      5. Marah will invited Jim Howell to July 23 meeting with information on possible streetcars on NE Sandy
    4. LAND USE – Trudi Rahija’s resignation was accepted with thanks for her past service and regrets she will no longer be with us.
      1. It was reported that Key Bank received its building permits on Pagoda property.
  6. NEW BUSINESS
    1. SUSTAINABILITY – Elisabeth wants us to pursue decreasing water run-offs in Hollywood . She repeated her concern that we need an urban park and she was asked to invite Commissioner Fish and Parks Director to meet with us.
    2. HOLLYWOOD THEATRE - Chair Craig reports they are holding a community gathering in Grant Park, September 7th. “Weiner Take All” is event name and children are featured invitees.
    3. NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS – August 2nd event in parking lot of Grant Park Baptist Church. Booth space available.
    4. PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY is doing a survey in the neighborhood called “Creating Livable Communities from Aging Societies”.
  7. MOTION TO ADJOURN – Sally Timm 2nd Bruce Richmond - PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
